Lab report No.2

We conducted some experiments to test the presence of biomolecules

Ex:

1. Starch test

We had to see which food doesn’t have any starch from: bread, potato, orange, and apple. We dropped three drops of iodine solution. Results showed that orange doesn’t  have any starch.

2. Protein test

We had to see which food had the most protiens out of : egg white solution, milk, soda.

We conducted an experiment to see which food had the most protein. Our result was egg white solution.

3. Glucose test.

Which food has the most glucose: water, soda, milk, oil.

Our experiment was about which food has the most glucose. We said that soda had the most glucose.

4. Lipids test

We had to figure out which food had to have the most lipids out of:  water, soda, milk, and oil.

We had to figure out what food had the most precentage of lipids. Oil was our answer.

5. Extended questions

We answered some extra questions about our experiment.

Water

What is water? Its the liquid that descends from the clouds as rain, forms streams, lakes, and seas, and is a major constituent of all living matter. Water Structure: A water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom . ( H₂O ) Water Properties: - Surface Tension - Density - Polarity - Adhesion - Cohesion - Viscosity - Heat of Vaporization - Boiling Point - Specific Heat Capacity Importance of W ater: Getting enough water every day is important for your health. Drinking water can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, result in mood change, cause your body to overheat, and lead to constipation and kidney stones. Characteristics:  - Water is polar - Water is an excellent solvent - Water has high heat capacity - Water has high heat of vaporization  - Water has cohesive and adhesive properties - Water is less dense as solid than liquid  Benefits of drinking water: - Promotes weight loss - Flushes out toxins  - Improves skin co...
